Comments Thread For: Hearn Explains Why WBC Was Wrong To Order Loma-Campbell

I've only heard anyone say that within the last week or so, and only on this forum.
My understanding is that unification is about having the belts, not how you got them.
The WBC seem to be looking at this as a unification.
Where is this concept of there needing to be two champions fighting for unification coming from?Comment

Not unless you think Loma belongs at the same breath as those 4Comment

I don’t have a problem with the matchup. I do have a problem with Loma already having so many title shots in his first 15 fights though. He actually got a title shot (that he lost btw) in his second fight. Most guys have 18-20 fights under their belts before they get their first shot. I feel like he is given a lot, and is severely overrated.Comment

I’m twisting? That’s exactly what you are doing but go off. There’s the article as proof although I’m sure you’ll find some way to still disagree.

Hearn didn’t actively partition for that fight to be for the belt that was down to klitchko. That’s what it took to make the biggest fight of that year and I’m not mad at that. It also didn’t involve the wba breaking their own rule about having to make two mandatory defences after winning a vacant title.Comment

This is no different that the time the VACANT WBA title was on the line and AJ was allowed to fight for it. Wald petitioned the WBA to sanction the fight and at first they said no. Then an additional 10k seats were added to Wembley Stadium and then they approved the petition. Mendoza had the power to say no to the petition but he said yes. The WBO however, wasn't having the shenanigans.
They held a 4 man tourney to determine their champ which is how Parker got the belt. What should have happened with the WBA is this; the Number 1 (Ortiz) should have fought Wlad (number 2). But Wlad didn't want to fight Ortiz. At that point, the WBA should have told Wlad, "you can fight AJ, but not for this here title. No no sir". This would have Ortiz a chance to fight for the title. And this is why Hearn is pissed at the WBC concerning Whyte.Comment

You're wrong. Hearn has more pull in the WBA than any promoter in the world and he lobbied hard. He may have publicly pretended it was all Klitschko's idea, but don't act like you have any idea what he was up to behind the scenes.Comment
