Comments Thread For: Hurd: Jermell Charlo Fight Doesn't Define My Career; Who Cares?

When Jimmy Lennon Jr. announced Tony Harrison as the winner over Jermell Charlo 4 months ago, Jarrett Hurd admits he was bothered by the decision. Not because he felt Charlo won, but because Hurd knew that what was supposed to be the fight at 154 pounds at least would be delayed. Hurd had hoped to win his own interim matchup, eventually revealed as an optional title defense against Julian Williams on Saturday night, before securing a showdown with another unbeaten champion in Charlo.

If Harrison loses to Charlo again then nobody will care at all.

just go up to 160 and fight the other charlo...if you win then no one will bother if you don't fight the 154 charlo...the 160 charlo is better anyway

I don’t know how that big sum-***** makes 154 to begin with. It’s obvious his future is at MW. And personally, I don’t think he’s gonna be very effective there. His success is based on being able to take punishment from smaller guys. Bigger guys are gonna got harder. And chances are he isn’t gonna be as sturdy. If I were him, I’d call out Errol Spence for one last JMW fight if his body will allow it.

Canelo vs Hurd, not a bad fight that could be made. But let us allow the Charlo brothers to get their big shot at Canelo and Hurd and see how it goes. They are no less deserving than Jacobs and the likes of Liam Smith and Khan who fought Canelo.

Only casuals feel that way. Fans , whether we like them or not, would love to see all possible match ups. Any combination of top 10 fighters is what we all should want. I just don't understand not wanting a fight.

Maybe that's just me and my wishful thinking.

This. Charlottes got exposed by Harrison and Korobov. True.

I agree 100% Hurd isn't really great at anything besides pressure and thats mostly because hes bigger than everyone. Throw him in there against someone with equal size and power and he probably gets beat or stopped easily because his lack of defense

Hurd at 160 will need to adjust his fighting style. Best to unify at 154 with the winner of the rematch and stamp a legacy. 160 is deep and dangerous.
