We cannot blame Tank for a crappy mandatory fight. They happen. Loma himself just came off one.

loma's mandatory was top 5 in the division. this guy is some complete unknown. dont think they are comparable.

also promoters have a lot of say when it comes to the rankings. powerful promoters can move their guys up the rankings very quickly and illogically. for example abner mares is now ranked #4 in the wba 130 rankings. he's never even fought at 130. still setting up that future fight? i dont see why they wouldnt put pressure on the wba to rank these unknown guys for easy tank cannon fodder. i doubt ricardo nunez has a powerful promoter but could be wrong

The first point is talking about ancient history, not really relevant to this topic.

The second points is also irrelevant. Tank doesn't get to choose who becomes mandatory.

Hopefully Tank decides to move up to 135 instead, or maybe manages to arrange a unification bout at 130 instead. But if he has to take care of a mandatory, then that's part of boxing.

who does choose them? you think the wba bases their mandatories based on a meritocracy? why this random dude? someone wanted to get him a shot. was it his own promoter or was it haymon saying we need an easy fight? or just the wba picking names out of a hat? the guys not even #1, the guys never fought an eliminator. why a mandatory now? those are behind the scenes questions for haymon and the wba. maybe they just want to get it out of the way so they have free reign for a couple years and more bum pickings and small fighters

Mayweather for example. IMO is the most talented fighter ever, but he never fought the guys he was supposed to fight at the right times. I don't take into account weight with Money cuz he started at 130. Davis has a ceiling, could anyone see him fighting at 140? He needs to start chopping these boys down from 130-135 and any formidable opponent coming up from 126. He has all the talent and can beat them all, as a huge fan I don't want to take from his career 20 years from now.

Well yeah, but it is the same in that both Loma and Tank were both forced to keep their titles by fighting less than ideal opponents selected by the WBA. It happens. Sometimes those orgs seem to just pull random names out of a hat. Trust me if Tank's team personally selected that opponent I would be having a field day with it LOL
