Because boxing essentially has different leagues now and the fighters know who you have to be signed with to get certain fights.

Mikey left Arum to go to Haymon because Mikey knew that's where the big fights were. That's where the belts were. That's where the biggest exposure was.

But Mikey had to bet on himself. It's VERY HARD to leave Arum. If you try to leave Arum, you better win by knockout in your last fight, because if your opponent is still standing, those WBO judges will steal the fight from you.

Signing with a promoter who is at least talking like he wants to make a fight with the other side of the street is not ducking. Using networks, advisors and promoters as an excuse to not make a fight is much closer to ducking than just signing with a promotional company that has been good to you in the past.
