Comments Thread For: Hearn: Daniel Jacobs Will Be A Different Monster At 168 Pounds

LAS VEGAS Weight was a divisive issue before Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs fought Saturday night. The 6-feet Jacobs came in 3 pounds over the contracted limit of 170 at their second-day weigh-in Saturday morning. That decision is believed to have cost Jacobs $1 million from his eight-figure purse and gave him a perceived advantage over the significantly shorter Alvarez.

Danny is weakened at 160lbs and the weight-in just confirmed Oscar's game plan. I made this same point back in April. Danny will be much better at 168 but he'll still have problems with head movement and counter punchers.

Will he develop a jab more menacing than the limp noodle it resembled against Clenelo?

Cancel this dude already. When he comes up short in a big fight at 68, he'll make more excuses. There's a reason a lot of these guys aren't worth the buck, and his performance solidified that last Saturday.

I never believed this dude would win and his pre-fight interviews and demeanor said just that. I still watch his fight against Golovkin to this day because he actually tried to put forth an effort, but his performance against Canelo was poo-poo.

Again, I'm glad I didn't cough up $80 for this and I won't if Jacobs' name is ever in the mix again the main event. Leave the big stage to the guys who'll perform, not the ones with the built-in excuses who just want big paydays.

It's unfair to the fans when a guy begs for a big payday and packs it in as soon the opening bell rings. To add insult to injury, he continued to gaslight us with the whole, "I feel I did enough to pull it off" jibber jabber. Eff this dude!

Jacobs needs to throw his hands more. He's technically sound and ****s but maybe there is a lack of menace that all fighters need to be true monster.

Jacobs will be more comfortable at super middleweight, but can he beat a guy like Callum Smith? I doubt it, after that tentative performance against Canelo. I didn't hear any of this before his fight with Canelo, and he showed more aggression at the weigh-in than the actual fight.

Well if Canelo decides to fight someone other than Callum, then match him up with Jacobs! DAZN is pretty thin @ 168!

Nelo will go there and beat him again. DJ will complain about feeling sluggish.
