PRIME Canelo Appreciation Thread - Slick Tricks n Mastering Techniques

There are so many fundamentals to hype with Canelo’s Ring IQ.

Many boxers would benefit in not being staggered if they knew how to roll punches just with their neck. It takes master reflexes and neck stretching to play loose.

So one trait I like about Canelo, though not the smartest option for the sweet science when planted, but its rugid and classic style done effectively is to roll with the punch even if he’s late, in range, of being struck. Sure he can slip, catch, and roll with general upper movement, but again, Canelo’s reflexes to roll with shots even in dangerous moments such as a GGG uppercut is Upper Echelon Elite Level.

For casuals reading this and don’t know. When you roll with punches you alleviate the impact.

I’m going to say he learned these habits by flinching and dodging punches from his older siblings before his teens.

      Masterful defensive performance by Canelo!

Jacobs didn’t give him many opportunities to counter but he did well with his defense!

Don’t see anyone at 160 beating him currently

Has there ever been a mexican fighter as slick as ginger?

mexicans tend to brawl and to block punches with their faces, Canelo does neither

sometimes he looks like he's channeling sweet pea/ Toney right there

I think Toney and Sweet Pea and Laroche Pepp Floyd were better in showboating master defense. I like Canelo more of a George Benton in many planted positions and well composed with a single high guard and loose.

Canelo is like Game Of Thrones. They throw you two fast balls followed by a screw ball and you find yourself strucked the f out
