Canelo's defense is very impressive.

It’s definitely better than it looks. I’ve watched him several times in the flesh and his defence is excellent. Especially on the inside and mid range. Very hard to catch clean, great upper movement.

I tend to root against Canelo but no doubt he’s a superb fighter.

Yup. The way Jacobs punches shaved a milimeter off his chin red hairs is Matrix stuff

Its been impressive. I like Canelo's ring IQ, but yea his defense & elusiveness is up there with anyone in boxing today.

F#cked up thing about tonight doe to me was this was a winnable fight for Jacobs. And I really don't know why he paid a mill for that extra weight that he didn't really use in the fight. If you wanna beat Canelo you gotta be in his face all night. You gotta push him back. You gotta make the pace. That extra weight woulda helped him do that.

If you let Canelo control the pace you're letting him control the fight. And if he controls the fight he has too many ways to beat you.

I'm actually surprised it was so close. I didn't score it but it felt like a 9-3, 8-4 fight & since we know how the judges do it I was expecting some 10-2, 9-3 cards. When I heard the first two cards of 7-5 I lowkey thought they might be reverse stealing it from Canelo or something crazy like that cuz boxing.

I guess he said if you can’t beat them join them lol.
He always had good defense but he improved more.

With Trout he did a very good job in defense too

Yes it was but he gasses out in the late rounds. Stamina is his weakness.

He used that extra weight to take the punishment to the body.

This might have been the best head movement of his career and I've been impressed by it in the past. His stockiness in this fight made me think of Nicolino Locche

Very very impressive, there were times I felt like he learn a lot from the Mayweather fight. He knows when to take a breather, Bob and weave, lean out of range of his opponents etc it’s a joy to watch boxers from a defensive point of view as well, especially when their defence is about the upper body, not foot work movement.
