Face it, Mayweather has options. That's what it boils down to. Margarito doesn't have options, however he does have the support of Top Rank. People are basically accusing Floyd of ducking Margarito because theywant Floyd to fight him.
Floyd is the established #1 p4p fighter in the world. He's been on the p4p list for years, and he fought alot of good fighters. Margarito, though viewed by the hardcore as badass, hasn't beaten anyone to establish himself as the man at 147lbs. Yes, he's a monster, and I love the way the guy fights, but we all know how it goes in boxing. Stop giving these guys Godlike status before even proving themselves once.
If Kermit Cintron is the biggest name on your resume, then you are NOT the man to beat at 147lbs. Because Cintron was a product of hype and was fed bums prior to fighting Margarito. I think Margarito is a really solid, tough titlist.
This situation reminds me of when Mayweather was champion at 130lbs. Everybody in the media, and boxing hardcore began putting pressure on Floyd to fight Diego Corrales. Corrales began to establish himself when he upset then IBF champion Roberto Garcia. That victory alone should have gotten Corrales a shot at Floyd, as Garcia was solid. However, it took Corrales to beat Angel Manfredy to get a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr. It's not that Manfredy was a better fighter than Garcia (he wasn't), it was because Manfredy had a name in boxing at the time. Plus, Chico won the fight in impressive fashion.
So, I pretty much understand why Floyd says for Margarito to fight another champion, because Margarito doesn't deserve to be on PPV. What was it, 30,000 PPV buys in his debut on PPV? That **** was barely $29.99 and people still didn't buy it.
