Mexican style vs American style tonight?

Would that be a fair way to classify the Canelo vs Jacobs fight?

Actually Canelo fights more like an American (slick with defense) than a traditional Mexican (crude slugger/face first defense) style.

... I remember that Miguel Vázquez (the slick Mexican) lost his pro debut fight vs Canelo... right?...

Not really because of Canelo, who doesn't fight a 100% in the traditional so called mexican style. He's a calculated fighter who due to his built and stamina, can't throw 100 punches a round for 12 rounds, he takes his time, picks his shots and throws creative combos from time to time with very good defense despite not having the best footwork or being the lightest on his feet. Jacobs in 12 round fights fights more of the Afro-american style.

What technical things do you see Canelo having picked up from Golovkin?

No. Mexican style and American style are vague general expressions. Each boxer has his own unique style. This is Canelo vs Jacobs, two skilled boxer-punchers.

Canelo's stamina is better now than it used to be. He has been trying to improve it. He threw over 600 punches in the 2nd GGG fight and they were good punches. That is a good number of quality punches for a middleweight and more punches than Jacobs threw at GGG. I think he can match Jacobs's punch output and beat him.
