And ultimately they are two guys so they are getting 5% each.
Bread says Abel was getting 10% when they were on the come up and the purses were lower

Now that GGG's ship finally came in and he got a huge contract Abel should see some of those spoils. If loyalty was a thing with GGG.

GGG's ship didn't just come in. He's been getting paid. So Abel's been getting paid too.

Granted there is this new deal thats probably his best deal per fight, but it did have the coincidence of lining up with GGG cleaning house before the deal got made so in that way it was unlucky for Abel I'd agree.

I looked into this when all this sh^t went down. This is the norm for huge draws. SRL was doing this in the 70s ffs.

GGG isn't being greedy he's being normal. How much is training worth ffs? Is there no ceiling on it? Should Floyd Sr had made $25M for the Manny fight? Should that MMA guy made $10M for McConor's fight with Floyd? I mean respect to what trainers do & loyalty does have value, but idk if a guy holding pads for 6 weeks for 2hrs a day should ever be worth a multimillion dollar payday. If a fighter is willing to give it fair play. But I don't think thats a fair expectation.

And Abel coulda been open to w/e % but GGG was able to pay what he wanted to pay. Its a business agreement. A guy can offer you whatever he wants to & you can accept it or not when there is no contract. And thats what happened.

Golovkin is businessman, not idol of boxing. I get it.

But I want to see what quality of trainer he will get for the reduced amount he is willing to pay.

I disagree with the opinion its reduced. It was obviously reduced for Abel, but if GGG was overpaying Abel, as I contend he likely was vs what most draws pay trainers, then its a great payday for most trainers out there. How many trainers are making $200k-$300k per fight? F#ck man most boxers don't even make that much.

Idk that this selection of trainer proves who he can get doe. I think GGG is changing his strategy with a lot of things lately for whatever reason. With that in mind I think Max Golovkin is a dark horse to get this gig & it wouldn't surprise me much if he does.

I disagree that most top draws don't pay the typical 10% fee to their trainer. Would need to see more evidence of that other than just something Steve Kim said.

As of now Max Golovkin is the top choice to get the job. I wouldn't call him a dark horse.

Go research it. I linked to the SRL one in another thread about this cuz that was surprising & news to me, but there is plenty of info out there if you legit wanna see it. Draws ain't paying 10%.

Is he the top choice? In fans minds it doesn't seem like he is. Although in fairness it doesn't seem like any established trainer is the clear favorite either.

Draws don't get much bigger than Oscar De La Hoya. He paid Floyd Sr. up to $300,00 and was even willing to pay him $500,000 for the PBF fight...plus another $500,000 in the event he won.

Floyd Mayweather Sr., replaced as Oscar De La Hoya's trainer a day earlier, said Wednesday that his $2-million demand to prepare De La Hoya to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. was legitimate, not excessive.

If GGG wants to go cheap and keep more money for his family then Max is the obvious choice as his new trainer. He ticks off both boxes.

I thought GGG edged the second fight by picking up a lot of the later rounds. A draw would be fine. No way Canelo won 7 rounds when you re-watch it and actually count it properly.

Both fights were competitive. No doubt. But Canelo certainly got favourable decisions, especially in the first fight. That was not a draw.

Posting pics of facial damage means nothing. Ricky Hatton and Groves could knock opponents out in 3 rounds and come out looking worse. Some guys mark up a lot easier than others.
IMHO, the judges got both fight right-ish (again, I wouldn't have been upset if GGG got the nod in the 1st fight).

Shoe on other foot, I'm sure GGG fans would post pictures to illustrate how dominant GGG was.

If Nelo gets past DJ and GGG survives Rolls, we will see Nelo winning easier and GGG fans weeping about age. Almost doesn't pay for Nelo for fight GGG again.

Would GGG really bother to hold a ****ing press conference to announce that his brother is training him? Seems pretty ridiculous.
