The couple of sites that recognised Tyson as linneal all dropped him when he announced he had "retired".
"Tyson Fury (November 28, 2015 – October 18, 2016; retired)"
If he wants to claim this let him.Comment

I hope he does. I'm a Fury fan but this is a disappointing choice of opponent. I'm always fine with guys taking an easy fight here and there, I'm just more critical of this one I guess since we thought the Wilder rematch was happening right away and then at the 11th hour he went another direction. Really I don't have a whole lot of hope of ever seeing the big 3 fight unfortunatelyComment

How did Wladimir become the lineal champ anyway? He had been KO'd several times. His brother Vitali was a different beast altogether and the better of the 2. Also fury was caught taking steroids then pretended to be mentally ill to throw us off the scent but we all remember.Comment

The actual lineal heavyweight title lineage has been broken several times. And most of the recent “lineal champs” have basically become recognized as the lineal champ because they were seen as the clear cut top guy in the division. And not because they beat the man that beat the man.
LL started being recognized as “lineal champ” after he beat Holyfield and unified all the belts. The WBO belt wasn’t really required back then to reach undisputed status. But the previous lineal title lineage had been broken when George Foreman retired as lineal champ.
Very similar to the way LL retired as lineal champ and halted that title lineage. Personally, I felt that Vitali had a better claim to starting a new title lineage than Wladimir while he was active. But once Vitali retired, Wladimir clearly established himself as the top guy in the division. And in the minds of most started a new title lineage of his own.
And as we know, Fury was the man that beat the man. So of every heavyweight out there, he probably has the best claim to being “lineal champ.” But obviously his inactivity very much weakened that claim.Comment

Fury with his lineal BS talk, Wilder fought him cos he thought Fury was done...agreed he beat Wilder silly and that makes him number2 really...number 1 remains the boogeyman, the rent collector...Yo Fury, the landlord would come collect his rent, best you ain’t sniffing shlt or partying up...you big dosser...between, wasn’t he and his pimpled cousin caught cheating??? And for his information belts matter else Wilder would be considered non important.Comment
