On May 25, Oleksandr Usyk will make his heavyweight debut against Carlos Takam. Usyk, an Olympic gold medal winner, dominated the cruiserweight division and unified the weight class by capturing the WBC, WBO, IBF, WBA world titles, as he won the first World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament.

Usyk has stated his target weight for Takam is 214lbs to 220lbs, depending on how he feels, but for now his feeling is that closer to 214 is better.

He's focusing on maintaining the movement and speed, which probably the right thing to do. He's unlikely to take too many flush shots that he doesn't see coming, but for sure, some of the guys at HW start to get a lot bigger.

He's going to be the same weight as Wilder, but without Wilder's height, reach and power, but with a lot more boxing skill than Wilder. So height/reach/power vs skills. Skills usually pay the bills, so he might do just fine.

He beat Joyce in the WSB so he ought to be able to hand with the big boys. Even Fury or Wilder. But against AJs catch and counter, he is going to be hit.

Usyk is very skilled, and if he can improve his power as Holyfield did, and be effective against the bigger men, he'll be fine. Against the top 3 heavyweights, his best chance of victory may be against Wilder.

I think Usyk would beat Whyte to be honest, and Whyte has never sounded very confident about taking that fight.

Whyte is right. Usyk struggled with Bellew for 8 rounds for God sake, Bellew was even winning on the cards and in most peoples eyes up until the ko.
