Kicking is usually an offensive weapon. Punching can deflect as well. Most fights end with a punch.
In the west most kickboxing fights end in a punch where boxing was invented? What about in thailand? What about sanda? Is the % as high in a country where boxing wasnt invented?
It may be true just the reality of striking or it might be western bias (or true but still heavily biased)
Simlar to always set up a kick with a punch 1st again thats western bias thats not how the thais do it and they are the best strikers at stand up in the world
I think the thais are on another level, they are clearly far better strikers far more skilled than western kick boxers and I reckon more advanced knowledge wise, they've been doing it alot longer its their culture in a major way, they are the best, they are a good bet imo when it comes to advice seniority
At th same time they fought with sword and stick and the rules are different so maybe they have a bias in the other direction, but that style of start in kicking range then clinch to avoid punching range etc seems to give little room for a boxing advantage or for leading with punches. Dekkers pulled it off but he was unorthodox (uses punches differently to typical boxing or kickboxing lots of lead power punches etc) and h was very powerful aggressive etc
I have no problem, other than my own, with myself , no dislike at all. Im for whites staying in existence but thats about the only differing point. Id be doing the same thing as u if i were an immigrant ie going to get the money

I don't watch many non boxing matches. I do see plenty of KO highlight clips.
If not a KO by punch, then it's a grappling induced tap out.
Very rarely, from my limited exposure, has kicking ended a fight.

Yes takedowns are a problem for kicking so real fighting its probably fists first, which is very ironic because an inferior style of striking ie the dutch/ western kickboxing style may be better for both the street and mma, than the superior muay thai striking style

A guy has to be 'nother level at kicking to make it matter. It's risky.
In the streets, that leg can get grabbed and that's not a good situation.
In the ring, if you see the kick coming, it can be maneuvered around (pivot, step back, step in).
It's a sight to behold, a guy getting kicked in the head. That fancy dancing MMA guy comes to mind
Don't know his name.
