Dope - get away with a slap on a wrist. Good stuff. It is unfortunate that we can only learn by spilling blood. If somebody kills an opponent in the ring and then gets caught for juicing, then this will make headlines and possibly even changes in the regulations. But to think that this might happen and be pre-emptive - no, that's not our style. We need to see blood to start thinking.

6 months - at best this is an equivalent of sitting one out. At worst - he would have spent this 6 months resting and training for a scheduled fight anyway. Incredible.

If regulators don't do what they are supposed to do, then why wouldn't promoters and boxing community step up and make things difficult for cheats?

I called this exact outcome.

BRILLIANT. He delayed getting a license so he could juice, expecting he could possibly cycle off after getting benefits, but got caught because it was VADA. Yet he won't get banned and he'll be back fighting again like PEDvetkin was allowed to brutally KO Duhaupas despite being fresh off juicing.

From my understanding they have no ability to do anything since he wasn't licensed with NY. Its a weird loophole to me, but its a loophole I've seen numerous non-hack boxing media people claim is legit.

Only thing NY can do is deny him a licence if he applies for one at some point, and don't know if its their practice to publically state whether a boxer will be denied an application for x period of time, so they might stay silent.

Ortiz can apply for a licence in any state at any time, and could feasibly claim 'WBA ban expired' in his application in the future as some sort of indication that his punishment has been served - so even though the states and alphabets got nothing to do with each other, it might help him get a licence at some point if the state commission is looking for a reason to grant him one.

If anybody ever deserved a lengthy ban from the sport it was Miller.

Ridiculous that he can be back in six months.

Whatever rules or loopholes allowed this to happen need to be changed.

I'm curious if other states would do the same upon hearing this news if Big Baby tried to fight there. Idk that all of them would. I'm not sure other countries would either. There are plenty of bs state commissions & Russia is a country that has had promoters who give no f#cks if guys have been banned by other groups so a PED championship fight between Big Baby vs Povetkin could be a thing just to go into one specific big fight I could see in theory happening post-this situation.

I'm unsure if states abide by ABC Group rulings with things like this. I can't recall any situation in the US where someone tried to fight during a ABC suspension to test it out.
