Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua in Shock Miller Only Received a Six Month Ban

Anthony Joshua has argued for more stringent regulations to be put in place when fighters fail doping tests in the wake of Jarrell Miller's meagre six-month ban. Joshua was set to defend his WBA, IBO, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles against Miller on June 1 at Madison Square Garden, only for the Brooklyn challenger to reportedly test positive for a number of performance enhancing drugs.

USADA caught Dillashaw for EPO and banned him 2 years.

VADA caught Miller with EPO, HGH, and an anobolic steroid, but since VADA has no jurisdiction, Miller only gets banned for 6 months by a sanctioning body.

25% the ban for 3x worse cheating.

Dope - get away with a slap on a wrist. Good stuff. It is unfortunate that we can only learn by spilling blood. If somebody kills an opponent in the ring and then gets caught for juicing, then this will make headlines and possibly even changes in the regulations. But to think that this might happen and be pre-emptive - no, that's not our style. We need to see blood to start thinking.

6 months - at best this is an equivalent of sitting one out. At worst - he would have spent this 6 months resting and training for a scheduled fight anyway. Incredible.

If regulators don't do what they are supposed to do, then why wouldn't promoters and boxing community step up and make things difficult for cheats?

You are comparing apples to oranges. If VADA is not empowered to determine punishments, but is only a testing organization, how can you compare this with an organization, which does the testing and may determine (if they can) punishment?

A multi million dollar fight and Matchroom Boxing USA didn't see the status of Jarrell Miller's license? Matchroom aren't amateur...all suspect practices..again, Hearn helped BJS get stripped by design and people can't figure out the fine details of contracts. Hearn knew how the UKAD scenario would be in play. FAIR GAME I guess, Warren can't say anything because that's the nature of Oxilofrine testing in the UK..

Like seriously? 6 months? There must be a typo somewhere. Guess it's 6years they meant. If it was Wilder or Joshua it would be 3 years

He's not even suspended from fighting as I understand it. He's just banned from that ABC Groups rankings for 6mos cuz ABC Groups can't dictate if you can fight or not. Thats the really crazy thing. He isn't reallllllly suspended at all.
