That sucks, but I'm not alarmed or too worried about that rating. Nobody cares about that fight. It would have been an opening bout of a triple header in the past. Only reason it was a main event is because of how many dates the PBC has to fill.
If Wilder vs Breazeale doesn't do well, then I'd be concerned.

I’m telling you guys, karma. All you DAZN hatin guys and all pro PBC shills whom had embraced HBO’s demise is coming back. To be honest I don’t want that for Haymon, but the LDBC fan base has destroyed PBC because it’s gone too ****** and it’s narratives. I think the only thing that can save PBC is if they start streaming bestiality on FS1. That should bring a huge rural fanbase to the rescue.

Only the influx of new exciting talent from parts of the world where boxers didn't used to be able to get US TV dates from on HBO, after HBO kicked Haymon off, like GGG, Chocolatito, Loma, Kovalev, Inoue, Stevenson, etc, brought back a bump in the ratings, but many of them are getting older now and many of them were denied the big fights in their primes, so even many of the new fans that were made in the sport when they came around have already given up on the sport.
I expect to see continued ratings drops across the board if the next wave of talent isn't as good as the prior wave, and if that talent doesn't get top fights and top opportunities in their PRIMES unlike much of the last wave.

Sad to see what has happened to Showtime after fantastic 2017 and 2018. Nearly every top PBC fighter is going to Fox and DAZN/ESPN have raised the market rate for heavyweights so any decent Wilder matchup will go to Showtime PPV. And given the crazy money they are supposedly spending on Wilder-Brezeale, how much budget will they even have to bid for PBC fights for the rest of the year.
2017-18 Showtime co-mains were far better than the main events we're getting in 2019. All the Charlo Showtime fights, Gervonta-Pedraza, Hurd-Trout, Mikey-Zlaticinan, off the top of my head were all Showtime co-mains.

Some notable exceptions from the WBSS that is allowing some good fights to happen, but the promoters are killing off the golden goose by suffocating so many fights that could get people talking about boxing again.
Remember the good old days when Leonard fought Hearns twice, Hagler, Duran three times. Compare to how many fights Spence (or Crawford) have had against the top guns of today so far.
