Barry Hearn smiles: When I was running boxing we were slave traders

He's right though.
Besides, he isn't really talking about race as such, although there was elements of that with old time promoters and maybe modern ones too. But it's basically in reference to the fact promoters essentially owned fighters years ago and had them tied up in terrible contracts. He's being honest about what he did.
Using the term "slave traders" with a black guy sitting next to you probably isn't the best way to word it to get the point across. But in context of what he's talking about, it wasn't a bad way to describe it.Comment

Yes I am. I like it to be out in the open. Not whispered.
The other day when Arum said Haymon is telling his fighters don't deal with the white man I said even if he is telling them that he isn't wrong because ***s & Whites have always exploited black & latino fighters. Barry is proving my point.Comment

Thats exactly what Haymon is right now. He is a slave master. They call Hearn a slave master yet he is making sure his fighters get paid well. Haymon is the opposite, he is refusing to allow his fighters to take great offers and great opportunities because it does not suit his business plan. Unfortunately for his best fighters he only sees them as tools to be used how he sees fit in the pursuit of money.
It is just crazy that they have ZERO interest in making or letting Spence face Crawford. Its madness that Deontay Wilder is turning down 100 god damn million Dollars to take the fight he screeches that he wants so much. He seems to have a number of fighters that want to fight, or claim to want to fight Lomachenko. But all we get is dismissive talk from their management.
And the way they have just took a big dump on Luis Ortiz. If i were Ortiz id be wanting out of any contract he may have with who ever. Its a disgrace to the fans, the fighters and the sport. Slavery very much exists in this sport and the biggest Gangmaster out of them all. AL HAYMON.
Everytime a white man is exposed they always try to divert attention to a black or Mexican lol.Comment

Things haven't changed that much. The likes of Al Haymon and Eddie Hearn may have changed things for the better, but there are plenty of promoters still out there with slave contracts like Top Rank, Frank Warren, Don King, Dade, Caribe etc...Comment
