Lmao. Cable and Satellite do not get 50%. Omg who the hell told you that. My best friend is Head of Accounting for a major cable company. They all make a flat $5 per buy.
50% lmao. God you guys just make up crap.
The network ESPN takes 50%. Top Rank gets other 50%.
ESPN pays for filing and distribution.
Top rank pays fighters, fees and venue.
Good lord you guys don’t know business at all. Here is an article by Charles Jay who has worked in the PPV industry. What are your credentials? If they don't match his then you might as well put me on ignore because you're going on my ignore list if you've never worked in the PPV industryThe standard breakdown as far as money is concerned is a 10% fee off the top for the distributor, with 45% each for the cable system and the promoter. So when you see a price tag on a fight, you know that the promoter will get about 45% of that.
Let’s say a fight is priced at $49.95, which for the sake of simplicity we are going to round up to $50. If it’s HBO PPV that is being used, HBO is not a party that is at risk as far as the fight itself is concerned but will take the 10% fee off the top ($5). The promoter and the cable companies both wind up with $22.50 per “sub” (or subscriber).Comment

HBO, or in this case ESPN, does not get 50/50.
The cable/satellite providers get 45 or 50% depending on what they negotiated.HBO is not a party that is at risk as far as the fight itself is concerned but will take the 10% fee off the top ($5). The promoter and the cable companies both wind up with $22.50 per “sub” (or subscriber).
Yea you are a troll.

Gotta say, it's absolutely hilarious reading these comments. All of the sudden everyone is a ppv expert and can do basic math for purse splits. Here we have a fight that does 150k buys with 2 guys who speak perfect English and have previously headlined their own ppvs, with 10m+ in purses. This fight "didn't do well" and Glaser is now a troll not to be believed.
Yet rewind back to Golovkin-Lemieux, a fight between 2 fighters who speak poor English, never been on PPV and the total purses were $4m... And that event was a "huge flop", Mr 97k, Rick Glaser is the truth, nobody knows how to do basic math because "I dun kerr wut u say event flop lolololol oh damn I'm late to my Wendy's shift".
Yeah, this is a total shtpost, but don't you trolls ever pretend to be anything more than biased fanboys.Comment
