Is DAZN's hiring of Golovkin a ****** move?

Especially when all he wants to fight is another shot at Canelo?
Then we read reports like this:

Canelo: Nothing in My Contract Binds Me To Golovkin Trilogy

I mean if you're spending that kind of money, don't you want to see him against guys like Charlo, Andrade, etc.?
Why only let him fight bums and Canelo and nothing in between?

The Canelo fight itself will bring in huge money so no it’s not. I think executives at DAZN will step in if Canelo refuses to fight GGG. That’s the main reason that they signed GGG.

Charlo ain't leaving uncle Al doe. He's just all bark and no bite. He's not fighting GGG.

But I don't give a crap about the trilogy. I have seen it twice already. Life is too short to see the same fighters duking it out. I'd rather see variety.

I'm sure the amount he receives depends on if he fights Canelo or not. If it doesn't happen he will receive much less.

Nah not ****** at all. GGG is one of the few names casual boxing fans/sports fans know of. Having names casuals/sports fans know is something that should help DAZN acquire more monthly subs & more 1 time dips into the DAZN pool for those guys' fights.

Now is it great for DAZN if Canelo vs GGG III doesn't happen? Obviously not. They aren't bringing GGG over to not fight Canelo a third time.

But I suspect it will happen regardless of what Canelo might be saying now cuz from my understanding Canelo has some upside with meeting subscriber numbers so if Canelo makes the most mainstream fan fight he can make, which is the GGG fight, he's likely to be making more money off of that fight which I'm guessing he would be a fan of doing.

GGG promotions brings what to the table? GGG vs tomato cans isn't very interesting and they have no fighters.

The way I saw it from the get. Not all this money is guaranteed. There are no guarantees in life.

DAZN must have clauses and conditions like choosing the opponents they want you to fight within reason. The fighter can deny this order with reduced pay, or one other fight. If Canelo doesn't want to fight the opponents they want, they can't force him. The fighters can have their own clauses and conditions too. If not agreed, adios.

                It's not all that simple.

I think the way they threw around money, expecting it to translate to subs, was a mistake. We won't know for a while though if any of this was a good or bad idea. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Yea I think it was bad because he’s on the downslide now and his fights probably won’t be that great. He’s 37 for christ sake. Who gives an athlete 100 million dollar contract at that age ?
