We need to hear GGG's side of the story. I understand if GGG wants to change up his style a bit or work on things to take less punishment and conserve his energy better especially this late in his career. But I don't get the lowball offer? why would he do that if his only goal was to improve? Just thank Sanchez for being your trainer/promoter for many years and tell him like a man that you're changing trainers.

From what Sanchez is saying I think GGG thinks he knows what he needs to know and he doesn't need a trainer taking 10% from his purse, which from 100 mil is 10 mil freaking dollars, which is a lot of money. Still GGG should've never made the lowball offer to his long time trainer and it speaks volumes on him and his brother. I think GGG will hire his brother and keep the money in the family.

Golovkin probably doesn't even need a trainer at his age. Just someone to hold the pads and someone for strength and conditioning.

So GGG in his 6 fight deal gets 16.6 million per fight. Abel would normally get 1.6 million per fight.

He says a “fifth.” That’s like 320k... in 6 fights that’s 1.92 milllion. Let’s say GGG offered Abel 3 million or 4 milllion for all 6 fights where if it went by 10% as before he’d get 9.6 million?

If GGG did offer 3 or 4 million all inclusive that ain’t half bad because they’re all guaranteed and GGG was still employing Abel. Abel is assuming they wanted to keep him for all 6 fights.

To me he looks like the greedy one and GGG looks like he is being smart and not throwing away the money he is finally earning at the end of his career.

I can understand him being a little emotional - but the thing is that he even said that the writing for this has been on the wall for weeks. For him to come out and respond so emotionally and callously publicly is not a good look for him. I guess he knows GGG was his last big fish so if he loses him he knows he is basically going to retire as a trainer anyway.

But comments like these will definitely change his public perception and legacy. Just a terrible look for him imo, and I always liked him.
Good points, however don't forget that Sanchez was not only GGG's trainer, he was also his spokesman and promoter before he came on the scene and he started this whole mexican style thing. I don't like Sanchez but I think he helped GGG a lot more than people think outside of the ring.

Bottomline is yes the fighter is the one taking the risk, but you can't lowball the people that helped you get to where you got once you start making money. GGG should've stuck with the "I wanna better my style" story and just told Sanchez like a man hey I need a change up and I also wanna save some money and leave without making such a ridiculous offer. You're right though about the way Sanchez reacted, it's unprofessional and it will overshadow a lot of the good things he did for GGG.

You always need a trainer, they are crucial as they can watch you on fight night and see what your opponent is going and advise between rounds!

6 fights is over 3 years 2 fights a year. Plus he helped mold his career over 9 years. The 10% was ok when they made 50,000 a fight. Now after 9 years of brutal training in Abel’s gym and camp now good times he should get 1/5th?

I don't think Sanchez contributed much to GGG skill wise. He just seems like an ole go through the motions type trainer. Similar to Virgil Hunter, Nothing special. With or without Abel's training I think GGG's record would be the same.

In the past few years outside of GGG I can't recall any of his other fighter's getting a significant win, but I can remember many of them taking L's..

GGG probably could've handled the situation better as far as communication with someone you've been training with for so long, but at the same time for Sanchez to run str8 to the media babbling on like a spoiled brat say's something about his character as well..

Seem's to me like Abel was depending on GGG's 10% checks a little too much..
