    The Mosley-Mayweather Underestimation?

I recently made a thread asking about who would win a fight between a prime Floyd who fought Gatti vs a Prime Mosley at 140 and Ill say the same thing now that I said then.

Max Kellerman also use to say this all the time. He said alot of these Super Offensive fighters come along and people fall in love with them because they can just run through guys and kill them. Meanwhile there are other fighters who have the complete package but look boring and arent as spectacular so people think they arent that good. Then the fight eachother and everyone thinks fighter A will kill him because they are just so offensively explosive but 90% of the time they end up being exposed by the complete fighter.

This desribes Floyd vs Shane to a T. Shane will look so dominant against most guys but if he fights a elite complete fighter like Floyd then he will look totally different. Shane is all offense while Floyd is the Superior defensive fighter, is even faster then Shane, and has shown a much better ability to adjust in the ring.

Max said thats why guys flame out like Tyson, Mayorga, Shane, and so on. When they fight guys who can do more things then they look lost and exposed.

People see him kill Vargas and then they expect the same to happened against Floyd even though he is 10x faster then Vargas, would never get him by alot of clean punches, is the most accurate puncher in the game, has a much better chin then Vargas, and has shown he can adjust better then anyone in the game. It would look totally different for Shane and people will wonder how ludacris they were for thinking that Mosley will just run through Floyd.

Floyd would never get hit clean by a right handed fighter like Shane. He will block all his punches and he would land all day on Shane's non existent defense. Shane is a explosive puncher but Floyd is by far the more complete fighter and would give Shane so many problems, even with his lack of size.

People always discount how important defense is and we dont give guys enough respect for that. Its no coincedence that guys like Floyd, Toney, Winky, and Hopkins are so hard to beat. Its a different fight against those guys and no one will walk through them. If you have a superior defense then you always have the advantage. Floyd is the best and Shane has none. Floyd has seen speed like Shane but Shane has never fought anyone close to his speed. Shane would get hit alot in this fight and would get discouraged. Shane would also have trouble hitting Floyd cleanly just as he did against Winky & Vernon and that would also discourage him. He wont be a human punching bag like Vargas

And by the way, Kellerman gets so little credit when he's clearly one of the smartest people in the sport. Brian Kenny is a ****ing disgrace to Kellerman's throne.

I added another paragraph at the bottom if you want to read it. The site is screwing up so much tonight that it takes forever to edit.

I completely agree with you about Max. I wish we still had him on FNF and I think Kenny is the biggest moron in boxing. I dont even think he was a boxing guy. I think he just got thrown on the job by ESPN and then turned into a fan. Dude is a clown and knows nothing about boxing.

Max is the only good thing about B.A.D. right now

I feel u, just like people got carried away wit de la hoya beatin the **** out of mayorga, i mite have got a lil carried away 2 wit that lol...but on the real neither mosley or de la hoya is ****in wit floyd AT 147, at 154 They both have a chance against floyd but theyd still be the underdogs, ive said in the past that oscar has a good chance at 154 and i think could win but thats only cause thats to much weight for floyd to move up so quickly, he just moved to 147 a couple fights ago and hasnt really fought a REAL WELTERWEIGHT, so it be a lot to deal wit, but I honestly dont think no one can beat Floyd except winky wright.

I agree with you on the Oscar thing and while alot of people were on his bandwagon after the Mayorga fight and they all thought he could beat Floyd, I heard alot of vertran writers saying that a fight vs Floyd would be totally different then Mayorga and he would have much more trouble even with the weight advantage.

Alot of fans are fooled but both Shane & Oscar are both smart vetrans who honestly know themselves that Floyd will give them trouble. Thats why Oscar has said that Floyd could beat him and Shane doesnt want to fight him yet. These fans get caught up after big wins but fighters know what the real is and they know that Floyd will present many more problems then a slow Vargas or a sloppy Mayorga

                why?

He wanted them long time ago from the time he fough Brussel and that before the Gatti fight that he wanted to fight them.

I think Floyd should fight Veron Forest in Nov.

Kellerman is pretty good, but he is kind of obnoxious and quite annoying at time.
Brian Kenney sucks major balls, though.

no way, Quartey is gonna tap Forrests ass, and i would luv to bet my lil bit on points on that LMAO, even though i dont have **** for points...But i think quartey is gonna beat vernon, and even if vernon did win he would walk away wit enough lumps or cuts to not be ready for nov 4th slot and wouldnt have proper time needed for floyd if he did...
