A trainer sacrifices his whole life to train a fighter. Abel was there when GGG made peanuts, his pay should increase accordingly to GGGs.

well 10% is not even enough. some go for 15-20%. Sanchez deserves that, if GGG "special" talent deserves those mills. props anyways

10% is standard for guys on the way up. but if you think roger or floyd sr or freddy roach were seeing 10% you are dreaming. At a certain point you are still only putting in 10 weeks of work and you benefit massively from the fame and notoriety of the fighter. No way AJs trainer gets 10% either.

LOL yea idk. I'm just assuming if it was 10% then the offer, according to Abel, was 2%. If he was at the high end of standard, 15%, then the offer was 3%.

Whatever is going on if what Abel is saying is true & he was getting a standard range trainer cut a 80% reduction in pay is mfing insane.

I'm curious what GGG has to say. I'm thinking GGG either didn't wanna fire Abel, but didn't want Abel around anymore therefore gave him an offer he knew Abel couldn't accept to end the relationship or Abel is f#cking confused about something or straight up bsing. Cuz logically this story makes zero f#cking sense to me so someone is being a crazy mfer.

I think its 10%-15% up to a max number as someone mentioned with Freddie's situation.

Not unlike how sanctioning bodies operate as well oddly enough with their 3% cut from my understanding.

This.I think this how the story plays out. Abel wanted 10 percent which is 10 million which I doubt 10 percent is standard in the sport for someone with a $100 milllion contract. No way a coach would get $10 million off his fighter. GGG said no you're not getting that much and abel didn't budge. Basicially Abel wanted an enormous amount of money.

Surely not? That would be waaaaay overpaying him. He's another loss away from becoming irrelevant.

Also, whether 10% is "standard" or not, doesn't really make sense to make the trainer a multi-millionaire. 2%, if that is what he's getting paid, is probably still a lot more than he's ever made before.

Abel saying that he thought Canelo won in a close fight was absolutely crazy coming from his own trainer and saying mid fight that he was losing is insane even if it was meant to make him work harder.
I think their relationship has been showing signs of cracking ever since the first Nelo fight Esp. When GGG wouldn't do as Abel wanted by going to the body.
Abel saying GGG would win via a "Ginger Snap" was setting G up to be embarrassed I think cause Abel knew G wouldn't risk going to the body again.
Something just seems off in their last cpl of fights together.

I don't think I've ever heard of a top ten caliber fighter at the top level of the sport only paying his trainer 2%. Thats f#cking nuts. I'm dying to hear GGG's side of the story doe.

But as I said in another thread too Abel sunk his own battleship by not sticking with Team GGG during his post fight remarks for the 2nd fight. You don't go saying your guy lost a close disputed fight that most fans thought he won. You go through the motions of "we wuz robbed" publicly even if you don't believe it. Abel shoulda been fired imo after that whole thing.
He was offered 5% take it or leave it.

For a $16M/fight purse, that amounts to $800K, before taxes and it's still a good amount after taxes.

Able basically wanted over $1-2M per fight.

Able finding out why most trainers have more than 2 fighters.

Gassiev hasn’t fought in a year, and with no G now he’ll be hurting.
