Yeah Golden boy said we will pay you more then GGG offered so he got a smaller payday for a stay busy fight then got big jump in money in the next fight getting paid more then Lemieux. So over those 2 fights he got paid what he was offered by GGG. The problem is where is Ortiz making up that 5M? And he's 40 if he were in his 20's you can make that up over the long term. But at 40 how many more fights does Ortiz have left? He is making 100-200K fighting on undercards every fight the last 2 years except Wilder fight. That's his only main event and he made just 500K for that fight. So how is me making up what he is turning down?

If you read up on or have heard him on podcasts in the past he & his wife lost a kid. His wife was pregnant again, but it was during the time he was going to need to be training for the fight. He wanted to be with his wife during her pregnancy not away from her in training camp. His uncle(?) who he was close to was also dying of cancer at this time & he wanted to spend time with him before he passed. He credits his time away from boxing with saving his marriage cuz he doesn't think he & his wife woulda survived him going away during her pregnancy.

Quillin and Haymon bull****ters. Meanwhile a long time ago Buster Douglas loses him mom yet still fighting in Japan and beats Tyson. Quillin’s PR team could’ve just let industry know that “sensitive matters” are at hand as Quillin has “decided” to be with his wife during the process along with family matters. It’s as simple as that and your relinquish the strap and move on. It wasn’t disclosed, and even Haymon would’ve made it a priority for it to be known.
