well the tread that it was intended for anyway. That was my other thread but true to that thread I will stay to it in that Ali did not domanate foreman it was a great fight for sure alltime great fight. I posted many examples of elites vs elites in my thread. Ali's conrner in the fight was beside itslef in what ali was doing. Years later we would get the anser to the greatest question ever posed in the ring "is that all you got George" years later george would discuss the fight and when possed with that question and thinking back his only reply was "yep thats all I got".

i had the fight REAL close to be honest. While ALI blocked a lot of shots, he was taking a lot of body shots. ALI is basically unharmable while being hit to the body, but it still counts.Originally posted by ICEMAN JOHN SCULLYYou are dead wrong with your comments on Ali-Foreman. It is a long time MYTH that Ali was getting dominated in that fight and he just managed to wear Foreman down and then stopped him out of nowhere. Ali was AHEAD on the score cards in that fight and was landing super accurate, SHARP counter punches and lead rights ALL NIGHT LONG.
BUt towards the later rounds (6,7,8) u could see that foremans body shots hardly did anything with his body shots and ali was acting the same. He came off the ropes more frequently and snapped in some sharp and hard combos.Comment

Watch the fight... whoever was announcing the fight had Ali winning at the time of the stop... Ali landed the sharper, cleaner punches especially with jabs and righthands. Foreman hit a lot of glove and armsComment

Spinks wastes a lot of punches and a lot of movement. Karmazin had no idea how to fight a southpaw and he didnt put relentless presure on, he put at best steady pressure and Spinks was DONE by the 11th. TOTALLY worn down. Jose is able to take a GREAT punch and he sets a much faster pace... he knows how to fight southpaws and he will have the sense to keep jabbing no matter if he is landing or not (a big key). We could be outboxed, sure, but I think Jose is better than Karmazin and more importantly he wil be in better shape and will implement a better plan.Comment

If Billy Conn could outbox Louis than I think Ali could too.Originally posted by JuicyJuiceI wouldn't be suprise if Louis took Ali out early, all he'd have to do is jab with Ali to get him to the ropes and from there, as Ali drops his right hand for the uppercut, Louis delivers the knockout drops with the left hook.Comment

If Louis started from the center of the ring it would only take him three steps to get Ali on the ropes. Every time he'd jab, he'd step in and jab again. Then do the same thing.Originally posted by JuicyJuiceLouis had all tools and smarts to catch up with Ali, and certainly would of knocked him out if(when) he found the right punch. (Btw, if Foreman or Shavers hit Ali clean on the chin with their best punch, you think he's staying on his feet??). I don't even think it would be that difficult for Louis to beat Ali, Ali was clearly a sucker good left jab but only a couple of guys exploited this - Doug Jones and Ken Norton, and they gave him hell. If Louis jabbed when Ali jabbed, and stepped as he jabbed, it would take three steps to get Ali to the ropes - it doesn't matter if Ali's jab would 'get their first' because Louis, unlike Ali, knew how to block, how to parry, always had his chin tucked behind his shoulder, etc, while Ali was a sucker for a good left jab. When Louis got Ali to the ropes, he'd have him cut off, and he'd make sure to get in a few hard body shots before the end of the round to take Ali's legs away for the start of the following round. He'd take his time but basically grind Ali down, slowly take Ali's movement away, and when the opportunity arose to take Ali out you can bet your life that Louis would of taken it - and taken it well.Comment

You make it sound so easy, like Ali isn't going to do anything in response 'cept what Louis wants.Comment
