that is very wrong....sturm ran most of the night as he struggled to go toe to toe with castillejo.......the funny thing was even after he was knocked down in the 2nd, sturm went toe to toe with castillejo in the third and this is where is he realised that his way to win was to run and counter with flurries.......and NO he did not get overwhelmed by a desperate castillejo at all......castillejo just did what a fighter could do versus a runner...just kept punching to the body and to the head when possible..........and that is what wore sturm down........watch the tenth round again and you'll see sturm struggle from the beginning!
hey bro, thanks for relaying your impressions of the fight.

but i didn't see it, so that is why i wrote on what i read, as i stated. i'm not trying to comment on the fight much because i didn't see it, although on f i g h t n e w s they do mention that cas was hurt.

you are very correct when you talk about hitting the body on a "runner".

apparently, you saw the fight. could you elaborate more on the details the way you saw it. thanks if you can!

yes i read *********' article too but that was crap.......********* also said that urango as agressor proved to be the better fighter!!!...and then later on they changed it to say it was controversial for urango..

sturm didn't hurt or stagger castillejo in the fight, however he did hit him a few times and sometimes off balance also...

sturm would have been up a couple points at the time of the stoppage....he ran from the 4th round onwards....he was knocked down at the end of the second round and was out on his feet until he ****** it up and fought back in the last 20 seconds or so.......this fightback gave him belief that he could put castillejo out and in the third they started off where they left......and this is the round that sturm realised...NO NO...and subsequently ran from round 4 onwards with relative success....not much castillejo could do as he is 38 and sturm is a good runner.....

but credit to castillejo who had the only fight plan possible and that was go to the body early.........it pays to mention the punches that knocked sturm down in the 2nd were punches that came after many body punches which forced sturm to slightly lower his guard to protect his body...........

if you watch round ten closely, you'll see sturm is in discomfort.

thanx. when i do watch the fight, i'll make sure to pay particular attention to the tenth round.

so, it sounds like it was a decent fight up until the 4th, where sturm apparently got on his bicycle.

it doesn't surprise me that sturm was up at least a few points - he is an outstanding boxer. i would go so far as to say that he is underrated by many.

the stoppage is shocking to me. so it is nice to hear about the fight from different sources.

so f-news was completely bogus on that tip? interesting. i'll take your word regarding if he was hurt or not until i see it, but remember, a good poker face is a very important skill in fighting. personally, i don't think there is anyway a boxer does not get hurt atleast once after a few rounds of a championship fight especialy, but i'll have to wait and watch.

              thanks again bro.

not to say bogus, but if you watch the fight and then read *********' article about castillejo being "staggered", you'll probably think that the term staggered is not appropriate....

a lot of the fight up until end of round 4 was fought at close quarters....and this is where i believe castillejo inflicted his damage with the body shots.......they were fighting a lot with their heads touching...not very usual for sturm!

Sturm was not overrated, he beat Oscar De La Hoya but was robbed. How is that overrated?

ahh, i gotcha moochi. boxing in the pocket is not exactly a strength of felix sturm. he's better off boxing at jabs reach - where he is outstanding. i'll dl the fight tomarrow most likely. lately, i've been so busy i haven't even had time to watch pac's latest fight.

it sucks a bit more for me because i liked sturm as a boxer. from whatcha ya saying, it almost sounds as though he went away from his winning formula.

anyone else wanna contribute some insights?

sturm is a good boxer, he is very fit and runs well........that is what he offers..........he doesn't have power and i don't think he can mix it with other powerful more complete fighters.......so i think his downfall in this fight was trying to slug out the early rounds with castillejo (a 38yo past his prime 154lb-er)...
