Comments Thread For: Frank Warren: Khan is One Ballsy Character To Face Crawford

IN THE SPACE of a week, two British fighters will have come up against the very best in the pound-for-pound business over in the States. Last weekend played out in a sadly predictable fashion when the very likeable Anthony Crolla took a mauling at the hands of the remarkable Vasiliy Lomachenko. It didn't make for pleasant viewing and anyone who has even the remotest knowledge of boxing knew how that one would go. Nobody is being an after-timer and I just hope Anthony got extremely well paid for that fight.

I’ve heard the argument that Crawford is relatively untested at welterweight and Amir will be the best he has come up against. Fair comment but, unlike the vast majority of British fighters, the Americans successfully go through the divisions and win world titles.

For whatever reason, the American-based fighters going back to say Sugar Ray Leonard have always sought to become multiple-weight champions, unlike the Brits who tend to stick at their weight, or just move up one.

Some of these American fighters – and don’t ask me how – seem to whizz through the divisions and Crawford is one of the best to do so..." - Frank Warren

    Terence Crawford, REPRESENT!!!

Khan has ALWAY fought the best. His resume is probably the best in boxing of all active boxers.

... except period 2012 to present where he kept his place in line for a payoff fight vs. Mayweather or Pac by avoiding any serious threat at 147.

Khan hasn't held a world title in almost 7 yrs and hasn't had a truly meaningful win in about 9 yrs. Baffling how he can land this shot against arguably the best fighter in the world. The fact that he still has supporters is as deluded as some of the ridiculous things that come out of his mouth every time he does an interview.

This has the makings of a really good fight if Khan does what he's told and keeps his chin tucked. Big if but stranger things have happened. Have never been a big fan of Khan (a lot of which is due to his d**k father) but have to admit he's never been one to refuse to step up. The whole "waiting for mayweather" didn't really help his career (again his father's idea apparently) but in fairness he likely wouldn't be in a position to fight anymore if he had continued that getting knocked out streak.
Remains a classy boxer to watch though

Hope their aren't any idiots in the UK who are paying for this mismatch cos if you are then your a fool putting cash into the grinning Khan's back pocket. Watch the KO for free on youtube and don't get conned into paying for this

Khan has a great resume, but I would argue Canelo has the best of any active fighter.

Ballsy? Huh? What's ballsy about challenging for a world title against a former lightweight and new Welterweight titleholder with only two fights under his belt in the division?

Yeah maybe. Or really it’s Pacquiao by far
