Comments Thread For: Joshua's New Opponent To Be Announced Next Week, Says Hearn

Eddie Hearn, promoter for IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, will announce his boxer's new opponent next week. Joshua was scheduled to face undefeated challenger Jarrell Miller, in what would be the British superstar's United States debut, on June 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

I wonder how long they knew about this failed test, wouldn't surprise me if the opponent was set a few weeks back

Ortiz promised a wilder rematch??? For what $500k again?? Wheres 500k and wheres 6.5mil?? Its ridiculous. Life changing money. He could even negotiate abit more given the short notice. 13,14 times your biggest purse...
Total duck if he turns it down.

Usually know within the first couple of days if not same day the lab tests specimen that someone failed a test, they prob sat on failed test info for another few weeks before finally having to disclose to commission to get someone in camp on short notice knowing most top tier guys not going take fight on 6-7 weeks notice

As much as I beat the drum for Ortiz, will be really bummed if he passes on this. I have always felt he was odd man out. Dangerous, few travelling fans, and no belt to offer. If Joshua is offering, don't you have to take it? When is a bigger chance coming your way? You have 6 weeks. Of course you are at a disadvantage, but don't you have to?

"Obviously it's a fight in America, so from our point of view, we would like an American challenger really," Hearn told Sky Sports News.

If offered the fight, Ortiz isn’t in a position to turn it down. He’s not getting any younger. How many more opportunities will he get.

With being said, I think Ortiz is too dangerous and will not be offered the fight.
