Really? Check out his fight with Usyk. First half of the fight was very competitive until Usyk took over and late in the fight he just put it on Hunter. But Hunter is a really solid fighter. Wouldn't be surprised if he wins a CW strap soon or even if gives some of the top heavies some issues.

I have no problem with Hunter getting this opportunity I agree him being American could be the biggest factor here to try and save this event I guess

Hunter is not ranked by anybody but the IBF and he is ranked 10th by them. Bocrec ranks him 20th in the world. There are better higher ranked boxers AJ could be fighting.

This would be acceptable if they can't get Ortiz.

Ortiz is a way bigger name in America than Hunter.

AJ-Ortiz is far and beyond the biggest fight.

That contract is fake news. There is not a standard contract in boxing or any sport for that matter. All contracts differ from another.

How is it "fake news"? Are you saying that it isn't a real contract?

And the contracts are written different for different fighters. If you think Haymon could just prevent Ortiz from taking the deal, then why didn't he do so with Jacobs/Vargas/etc? Then none of his signed fighters would ever fight on other networks.

If Haymon wants to save Ortiz for Wilder later this year then sure, I could see him telling him not to take the deal since he will match whatever offer Hearn gives for the Wilder rematch. But he's not going to be able to force him to pass on that offer because he doesn't want Ortiz on DAZN.
Jacobs and Vargas have both stated in interviews that Haymon was involved with getting them deals with DAZN/Matchroom.

I'm saying contracts are not the same. That was put out as the standard Haymon contract. Do you really think Wilder's contract with PBC is the same as someone like Luis Nery?

Fighters choose what they want to do, some HIDE behind Haymon's Power while others like Khan go out and make their own moves and deals

By the way and I could be wrong but Hunter is still advised by Al Haymon if I'm not mistaking he is still listed on the PBC Roster...
