Lomachenko had the chance to set his value; even if he had no intention of leaving Top Rank, full value is still full value.

So yeah, all Lomachenko has to do is fight, because he's given up control of his own destiny well before he had to
So you're suggesting Loma is underpaid? If he is, not by much. There's a good yardstick in Crawford. They have been exposed to prime time TV for about the same time, arguably share P4P throne, are with the same promoter and Loma's not making much less despite coming from Ukraine and speaking broken English.

I don't know if he's underpaid or not; but that's not the point.

Saul Alvarez is arguably the biggest star in the sport, but he got hip to the game early; the moment he showed that he could earn money, he worked with the folks he preferred to work with, but he called his shot whenever it was his shot to call. From trying to fight Paul Williams on, Canelo picked the right fight for him, regardless of what other folks would have him do, and earned his money.

Why not follow that model? Lomachenko's contract is almost up,
and Lomachenko's camp likes working with Top Rank. Rather than be an asset, why not work in partnership, a la Miguel Cotto's run when his deal ended?

At least that way, when Lomachenko runs to the press about wanting this fight or that fight, folks could take his words seriously instead of ignoring him and waiting on Arum to speak authoratively on Loma's behalf

Come on... you think it was Arum's idea to match Loma with Salido in his second fight? Or with GRJ coming off a loss?

Arum didn't even want Loma fighting Crolla but accepted that Loma wasn't going to vacate.

Canelo was pushing his way since he showed he could earn. Loma was pushing his way before he started his pro career.

As to working in partnership - how many people are doing that? Crawford isn't doing that. Wilder says he's a free agent but does anyone believe him? To do that you need to be a crossover star and have business acumen. Add to that coming from a different country. I think you are being too harsh on Loma - let us be thankful that he takes all comers and isn't trying to run a promotional company at the same time...

I think that Lomachenko wanted to fight for a world title in his first fight, signed with Arum because Arum said that Top Rank could deliver that, and would've told Bob Arum to **** off if he couldn't deliver on his word.

Ray Leonard basically started it, Oscar, Floyd and Cotto followed the layout, and Haymon has basically moved that to be the template for every fighter under his banner that draws money.

Don't lie to yourself with that "take on all comes" bull****.

Loma has topped out at 135. Floyd went all the way to JMW. So the arguement stops there.
Who TF cares about Leonard Ellerbe? Why would his "respect" matter? Ellerbe was afraid to put his prized fighter, Tank Davis, in front of Loma. Why would the respect of someone who protects his own fighters while throwing shade matter?
