This is what is most likely happening with Wilder's ducking.
Just like there are no Blockbuster video stores left. And just like people don't have a home phone anymore, nothing stays the same, and change these days happens fast. Especially in media / entertainment business.
DAZN is unstoppable, and will break the old paradigm of how fights are made and promoted. The old dinosaurs are afraid, and now that DAZN has them on the ground, with it's foot on their neck, they are in their death throes.
Finkel doesn't g-a-s about Wilder, or what is best for Wilder. His sole aim is to retain the teeny bit of influence he has left, and that means keeping his WBC 'champion' in his stable.
To this end the WBC appears to be collaborating with Finkel to help keep the green strap stateside. But it is inevitable that it moves waists.
Firstly, Wilder isn't that good. He dodged a bullet against Ortiz, who has since been shown to be less than was thought, and he got a gift against Fury. A man who lost to John McDermott and himself got a gift decision. A man who has been dropped numerous times by less than stellar opposition. A man who spent two years in the pub, eating and drinking ****e, and snorting coke day in and day out. A man with mental problems.
So...Wilder and Finkel know it's the end if they fight Joshua, so they both have reasons to avoid the fight. Finkel will tell Wilder reasons not to fight, and Wilder is happy to agree.
I am not too worried long term. If Breazeale is not the deliverer of karmic justice, then Whyte will be. That is to say, if Wilder finds a pair of balls in his panties and will fight Whyte.
Sooner or later Deontay Wilder will come across a cherry pick gone wrong, and we boxing fans can get back to watching hw champions fight proper fights.
