Um, because you lose leverage. No way in hell should Crawford at this stage of his career sign for four more years with anyone. Like I said, he could stay at TR the rest of his career, but he doesn't need to be locked up for four more years. Bob is going to have no fear of Crawford's demands or threats with being inked for four more years. If it was a short term type of deal, he could have forced Bob's hands to make certain fights any means necessary. Crawford could have told him to send him over to FOX/SHO to make Spence or else he would leave after their contract. It's like how LeBron used to play the system signing one year deals. Now? Signing a four year deal he is at the mercy of the team, not the other way around. They control his entire destiny and could even move him if they want to.
