It's a very good question. My answer would be no because by that time the Balco scandal had just hit the fan. It would have been very reckless and foolish of him to do such a thing when he was already under a microscope for using designer drugs.

In another case scenario; Margarito was finished. Cotto beat the prime out of him where he was never the same fighter again. Shane just finished off what was left of him that's all.

If one were to go back and view that Cotto/Margarito I fight Tony appeared as a cyborg. we all know that Cotto has a well known reputation as a tremendous power puncher and Margarito was just walking through his power shots as if they were playing a game of tag.

This is what ultimately and subsequently wore Cotto down as he punched himself out from all the flush punches he landed on Margarito's head. Cotto may have lost the battle that night but Margarito had inevitably lost the war. His career was over after that fight.

I remember this fight, the broadcast story was how on that day Mosley had finalized his divorce. The talk was if it was going to be a distraction for his performance. And what I saw was a man taking out all his frustrations on a stationary punching bag with zero defense. He beat the brakes off Margs. Was a beautiful thing. Gonna go with NO steroids just divorce rage at losing half his money.
