Comments Thread For: Kovalev-Yarde In Works For June Fight In Kovalev's Hometown

Anthony Yarde is willing to challenge Sergey Kovalev in the champion's hometown. Multiple sources have informed BoxingScene.com that negotiations are ongoing between representatives for Russia's Kovalev, the WBO light heavyweight champion, and England's Yarde, his mandatory challenger, to fight in Kovalev's hometown of Chelyabinsk. Their promoters Kathy Duva (Kovalev) and Frank Warren (Yarde) are hopeful that they'll come to an agreement before a purse bid scheduled for Monday.

Got no love for Kov right now, but Yarde needs to quit with that A side junk. Step up, bring all those muscles to venice beach. Widen his horizons.

Kovalev is very soft to the body but Yarde is still green. If Yarde catches Kovalev he will go but then Kovalev is a skilled boxer. Will youth beat Kovalev? Intriguing.

Kovalev got this one. He isn't done yet. He showed as much last out.

Best matchup of 2019 except for the last Kovalev fight.

Does Krushers home town even have electricity, nevermind a large arena or stadium?

Really hard to rate Yarde as he hasn't been in against much. On the flip side, Kov has some mileage and is getting old in years as well. He looked good last fight but any fight could be the one he gets old in.

I will stay say Kovalev by stoppage in a fight more competitive than most would probably expect. I just can't see Kovalev losing in Russia unless he gets stopped. Should be good television regardless!

Kovalev is the far better boxer with loads more experience. Yarde has a punchers chance at best.

Lmao. Honestly I think that’s the reason team kovalev want the fight in Russia because of all tundes bs. They showed little interest in fighting their recently. I questioned tunde about it on insta and he blocked me lol

If Kov can get/stay motivated he should win. If he is really trying to unify all the belts that should be a good goal to keep him motivated before he retires. At his age he will need some incentive to really keep him sharp and motivated in training and also in the ring imo
