Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Discusses The Transition of British Boxing

A PRETTY WELL used term has been bandied about in recent months to describe the position British boxing finds itself in. The game over here, according to many, is in a transitional phase', due to the recent crop of high-profile retirements, defections to the US and subsequent shortage of headline acts.

When you sell your whole stable to uncle Bob, you're left with philosophizing about boxing.

If Warren makes Yarde vs Kov and Dubois Joyce now I'm going to have to give him a lot of Kudos and get my wallet out .. damm that'll hurt .. I think I've safe though.

But I thought the “uk was taking over” and America wasn’t the big money boxing scene....isn’t that what all the fast Eddie minions say?

I was hoping he would be talking about the transition of Frank Moloney

Not sure fast eddie has any minions, he gets the same amount of love as Bob and Haymon, ie not a lot.

More accurate to say streaming is taking over, as thats likely to be the future funding vehicle of boxing. Then just a case of size of audiences and interest. Fast Eddie might be currently aligned with DAZN, but he's only a small content provider for them.

Big up to Fi$h £yes for staging fights @ the Royal Albert Hall. I just wish he'd stop glorifying the meaningless WBO Euro/Inter titles! "Long Live the Lonsdale belt"!

Due to the extra money DAZN, ESPN have gotten, a lot of UK guys have gone to the US to fight in the last 6 months. It does feel like there's room for one or more fighters to step up and become a UK star and fill the gap but not sure if anyone will. Josh Taylor deserves far more attention and credit than we give him. One of the UK heavy prospects needs to beat a top 10 opponent and get buzz for a big UK fight with AJ/Fury/Whyte if they're available towards the end of the year.
