  • Do a lot of British not accept Lennox Lewis? Check out this video.

I thought this video was very interesting. There were quite a few people that were being asked about Lennox on the streets of England and quite a few are saying he's a fraud because he didn't grow up there.

So why so much dismissal from fellow Britains?

Wasn't Bruno a lot more popular in the UK than Lewis?

Think the fact he represented Canada at the Olympics and Bruno being the fan favorite had a lot to do with it.

there was some resentment of lennox becaseu he wasn't as british as frank bruno, who was a household name and who he absolutely destroyed [bruno fought well but ended up on the ropes with no idea where he was.] he fought for the canadian olympic team. spent a lot of his youth in jamaica and had an accent. some british people resented that.

all of that pretty much went out of the window by the end of his career, and surely during his retirement. lennox is one of the very best fighters ever. he was a truly dominant HW and fought in a hell of an era. he's a hard nut to crack, and the guy that a lot of boxing historians beat to pick over all others in a fantasy matchup between HW in their primes.

i consider lennox a british fighter. they should be happy to have him. i feel like they are.

Lewis is a british fighter end of, he left the UK at the age of 12 and came back when he was a man. The fact that Bruno was around at the same time as him didn’t help adhere him to the public. He suffered a lot during those days and some never liked him because of his different accent and arrogance.
