Comments Thread For: Marcos Maidana Former Manager Reacts To Recent Claims

In a recent interview, former two division champion Marcos Maidana claimed that he was advised by the inner circle of Floyd Mayweather, that a payment of $2 million was issued, in connection to the first bout with Mayweather in May of 2014. Maidana says the payment was made to secure his agreement to change his brand of gloves for the bout - since the bout agreement never specified what brand he was be required to wear.

Guess only one that can clear this up is Mayweather, how scared was he of Maidana with punchers gloves, $1.5 million scared or $2 million scared?

The custom ones were illegal; the commission threw out the gloves dipped like Maidana's trunks because the padding.

For the replacement gloves, Floyd was simply a ****. Once the gloves Maidana had were thrown out, Floyd picked the replacements, paying Maidana so that he could pick.

Maidana's custom gloves, as confirmed by Everlast president, were just normal Everlast MX gloves with a different color.

              Maidana's gloves:

Everlast MX gloves as they appear on Everlast's website:

It's the same puncher glove with little padding, absolutely legal and even used by Cotto against Mayweather. And used by chino against Broner etc.

This is why even after Mayweather complained and these were prohibited by the comission, when they selected regular red Everlast MX gloves, Mayweather payed chino to use another kind of gloves. Because that was the plan all along. He couldn't do it for free, so he had to pay.

He knew he was getting hurt otherwise.

There’s a lot of misinformation on what happened. From Richard Schaefer himself, the first pair of custom mx gloves, argentine colored, were ruled illegal by the commission. They weighed 8oz but the padding was not distributed evenly, straight out of the package.

The second, stock colored pair of MXs were ruled fine by the commission but that’s when Floyd stepped in and said nah, and paid him the money to wear the everlast powerlocks.

Then Everlast president said the first pair of gloves were absolutely normal.

Do you think Maidana's team made Everlast produce an illegal glove?

And the gloves were ruled illegal only after Mayweather complained? not before?

Richard is far from trustworthy. He's a snake.
