There really aren't that many people who think the fight is somehow necessary right now. Those are the people who are high on Lopez - not because he is a great prospect - but because they are racist.
You do realize Loma fans are the most racist fans here right?

Love this fight for later this year or early next year. Lopez needs a big win against a big name to truly take off and Lomachenko is exactly what the doctor ordered. And really, like Idec said, from the viable fights, Lomachenko doesn't have many options after Commey. You have Berchelt if he moves up but then who? You would love for Mayweather's camp to have as much confidence as Tank and make that fight happen and obviously the big one is Garcia vs Lomachenko. Lopez though is a easy fight to make and would be a great match up.

              Loma is the P4P #1.

Lopez is an exciting prospect, who hasn't (yet) proven he can contend at the highest level.

No one who is being rational can say there is any necessity for these two guys to be fighting right now.

You know what makes people irrational? Racism.

Loma haters are incredibly racist. But no-one really cares about their opinions - they are a tiny fringe group who no one respects, and who don't know anything about boxing.

Don't bother yourself. Lopez-Loma won't happen before Loma gets old.

That's the way the Bobfather operates, cash out of one star when he fades, into another. Trouble is, Loma is still good for another couple of years, and by then, Lopez won't be able to make 135 any more.

Likelihood is the fight doesn't happen and Lopez goes up to the more lucrative 140 and above over time while Loma stays at 135.

Lopez has scary level talent, but he's still young with room for a lot more development. If he comes good on his potential, and no reason to think he won't, he could survive a loss to Loma same way Canelo was able to move on from the loss to Mayweather, so Bob might see it that way and let it happen, but he would risk losing Loma if Lopez won - reason he might avoid it.

But yes, Loma has nowhere to go at 130/135. Mayweather promotions will stall Tank until they feel Loma started to fade sufficiently, but remember who the ultimate decision maker is with Loma - his father. His father will retire Loma once he starts to slip, ie right when Mayweather figures its time for Tank to step up. So thats another fight unlikely to happen.

My bet is Loma's next 2 fights after Crolla are Commey and Linares II, with Lopez going up to 140 by then.

                      Lomachenko is becoming boring.

Not in a literal sense. No, he’s still fun to watch because his athleticism and skills still make you do double-takes sometimes.

That said, predictability breeds boredom among fans and cynics alike. They want to see one of the best boxers in the world tested more than Pedraza, Crolla or even Commey can push him, particularly as he moves toward the back end of his physical prime.
You just described every belt holder in modern boxing. Don't single out Loma - this shyt has been going forever.
