Dedication. He lived boxing so was never out of shape...makes all the difference tbh...8 week camps STAY 8 week BOXING camps instead of 2-3 weeks of conditioning and 5-6 weeks of boxing...at the elite level those little things matter. Big.

(met him in Houston) Hopkins does not have a big frame at all and he also has narrow shoulders and a small waist..... so making 160 was not as hard as it sounds.

There was a brief time when people wanted to see Floyd vs. Hopkins at 154.

Their career paths didn't really align to make it happen, but it would've been a crazy fight to see.

Hopkins is the most disciplined man in boxing history, more so than even mayweather. Guy could probably be fighting fit at 160 now.

He treats his body like a temple as he would say and buys his groceries at Whole Foods which really impressed me.

People just aren't the same man.

I mean look at a guy like Robert Easter and a guy like Errol Spence.

Errol Spence is 5'9 but everyone talking about how Spence won't be able to make welterweight for long but on the other hand no one is talking about Easter moving up when he is 5'11 and has a longer reach than Spence.

People don't have the same body frame nor the same metabolism or genes.
Good points. You're right, we all have different genetic tendencies. Hopkins seems to have a similar genetic predisposition towards leanness, similar to Easter or a guy like Tommy Hearns. I'm similar to those guys in that I find it very easy to stay lean and very difficult to build and maintain bulk.
