How did boxing become so popular in the UK?

Honestly? You guys sing the national anthem for everything. Sporting events, going to school, crossing the road. In all seriousness though I read an article recently about a song that’s sung a lot at the baseball. God bless America I think it’s calledUnironically there was a period of time where I binged watched English darts tournaments because the crowd and announcing were so positive and hyped.
I can't think of an equivalent in American sporting events that compares to the Brit's singing Sweet Caroline.
tbh as a whole I feel like fandom in England is far more energetic and passionate then fandom in America. Americans would rather watch pure trash tv like My 600 Pound Life and Home Swappers or Garbage Wars; watching sports sort of requires understanding the rules and nuances of the sport and for some people that's too much work, they'd rather sit and judge a 600 pound man failing his diet because he's a fatass.Comment

most guys married with kids maybe get time to watch their favorite football, basketball or baseball teams...and maybe a few other things before the wife gets control over what they watch...and theyre too afraid of getting taken to the cleaners to stand up for themselves they end up watching garbage
if its not watching the kardashians and wishing they were them...theyre watching real housewives of something....always people much more well off than they could ever be.......now these ladies have to have 1500 dollar phones and 3k handbags they can barely afford just to pretend they are like them and better than the average poor person....its kind of sickening
I used to have an ex gf that loved watching fights with me....she even began having favorites and if I said "so and so is on next week" she would get excited...she especially enjoyed Bernard after watching him against pascal....she was 80 percent perfect....but the other 20 percent was really like a big deal lolComment

I remember as a kid in elementary we recited the pledge of allegiance so much we got sick of it and replaced words in the song to make it funny. We sing the national anthem so much its lost its significance. I mean when you use a guy's pants to salute the flag clearly we're just going through the motions.

I feel like a lot of American TV is escapism and wish fulfillmentpartially true

Because i want to see American boxing successful. If it were on Amazon or Netflix that would be great.
I don't understand how anyone who wants to see American boxing succeed would want to see it showcased on a niche app nobody has. We saw boxing drop in popularity when it left broadcast tv for premium cable. Now it's leaving premium cable for an even smaller audience. That makes absolutely no sense. Especially when broadcast networks are now paying for boxing. These networks also have their own streaming services. Now is not the time to be experimenting with boxing on a niche app nobody has.Comment

i dont disagree....mostly you will find me watching sports, movies and i watch maybe less than a handful of tv shows....my favorite is billions on showtime.....but most shows on network tv are trash and garbage.....ive literally seen people name their kids and pets after members of the kardashian family...its pretty ridiculousI remember as a kid in elementary we recited the pledge of allegiance so much we got sick of it and replaced words in the song to make it funny.
