Speed and agility were lost from the lay off and not taking care of himself during that lay off. He probably used the steriods cause he wanted to beat Oscar by any means. He wanted to do what ever it took and steriods might have been his only option.Poor guy has made many wrong decisions and now that he is older he IS thinking right but its to late for him.

I don't think his speed was what made him Ferocious.

It was his power and wicked uppercuts.

Remember he has a ****ed up back and steroids didn't help him (or Mosley) in the agility and speed departments.

Steroids + beatings + ballooning between fights + bad back= current Vargas.

i think the original poster is making a little too much about vargas' ability. he was never really that good to begin with.

much of vargas' past success stemmed from his confident style. he was never the most naturally gifted fighter but his confidence is what drove his aggression & power. it is apparent to me since the DLH destruction that this is gone.

the first time i saw vargus he didnt get hit for seven rounds not one landed punch he was 21 years old , its a shame, not only does steroids mess you up but lifting messes you up even push ups are bad , only strengthen your abs and neck , to punch harder heavy bag and chop wood
