Roy Jones would have lost to any elite heavyweight like Lewis. Too big. But...

Imagine if he fought and beat a guy like Tyson (even if past his prime). I think he would have beaten Holyfield, who was practically a shell of himself. If he had those two names on his resume, and retired, I think people would refer to Roy Jones Jr. as the GOAT.

Hagler getting the decision would have benefited boxing fans most. Marvellous retired at only 33 because he was disgusted with decision. Leonard only sporadically fought after that too, getting another gift in his biggest fight after this one.

How would the course of boxing have been changed?

1. Maybe Sam Langford gets a crack at the Heavyweight title, wins it and is much more famous and probably the consensus GOAT. Harry Wills also may get a crack at Jack Dempsey and beats him.

2. He'd have gotten destroyed by Walcott or Charles, Marciano probably comes back to win the title anyway but stays around longer and maybe Marciano-Patterson happens at some point.

3. They would have far more champions. Remember, the batch that fled Cuba just as the revolution stated included incredible fighters all at the same time - Jose Napoles, Luis Rodriguez, Sugar Ramos, Jose Legra etc;

4. Not just Russians, all the Eastern countries. Same. They'd have had a lot more champions and maybe the folks today who hate them so much may just accept them today.

5. I think Floyd would have far less fans, be far less famous and rich with no McGregor fight but he may have been greater because I think certain fights would have happened sooner.

6. I think Hagler was about to retire anyway. Maybe he does a Hearns re-match. I think he'd be recognized as at least better than Monzon all-time at 160 and a consensus top 20 all-time p4p.

7. He'd have started getting KO'd by Heavyweights.

In my opinion.....

Roy would have beaten that version of Tyson but he would have gotten annihilated by Lewis or either Klitschko.

And if Roy had retired after beating Tarver in the drop back down to LHW, he would currently be in the top 10 fighters of all time discussion.

I sincerely believe that if Castillo gets the decision, Floyd spends the next years giving us better fights, taking chances. Less emphasis kn the zero, and more in his stunning skills and going further up divisions.
