I can't see how any can be a boxing fan and not have enjoyed Toneys career, he is the definition of an old school fighter. Back in the day he fought every challenge out there and after 70 plus pro fights the only person who really beat him decisively was Roy Jones Jr. And that was a time when Roy was at his absolute peak. Even today he is still on of the elite fighter in the game and has 100 times more charisma and personality than all of todays heavyweights combined plus the skills to back it up. Toneys leagacy is that of one of the best fighters ever to step in the ring, easily top 50 pound for pound all time.

James "Belly's Out" Toney has had more gift decisions than Ottke, the most recent being the "win" over Fres Oquendo.Comment

Once Toney kicked Jirov's butt it was a near certainty that Hopkins would fight Toney. However, Hopkins came to his senses knowing he'd get owned badly against Toney at 190lbs.
Not sure if anyone watched Hopkins' interview with Fighthype.com? Hopkins says that he wouldn't dream of fighting Sam Peter, the Klitchkos or any of the other Heavy Champs. Hopkins knows he'd get flattened by them. Yet Toney beat Peter up bad in first fight and got robbed silly. The Klitchkos and other ABC Title holders have been ignoring Toney for the best part of 5 years.Comment

lol what? Hes only a threat to bums in the HW division. He may not be in shape now, but until someone beats him why should he retire? He is out of shape and still is considered a player in the heavyweight division so that reflects worse on the division than Toney. In terms of legacy, to me he is a clear Hall of Fame fighter. He has held titles in several divisions and beaten some good fighters. He never has ducked anybody either and that should be rewarded.Comment
