    James Toney's Legacy

If you have to write a few sentences to decribe James Toney's career as of now, what would you write? I'm curious to see how boxing fans look at Toney all time...

A guy that was a great fighter turned fat slob. A guy who should have retired a long time ago.

He may not be in shape now, but until someone beats him why should he retire? He is out of shape and still is considered a player in the heavyweight division so that reflects worse on the division than Toney. In terms of legacy, to me he is a clear Hall of Fame fighter. He has held titles in several divisions and beaten some good fighters. He never has ducked anybody either and that should be rewarded.

Smart, slick, defensive, elusive fighter that resurrected career by beating on bigger men.

What HW division are you watching? Toney is a fat turd who comes in out of shape and continues to make an ass out of a himself. He is an embarassment to HW division and himself. He has no power and is the only HW I know of that eats cheeseburgers as part of his diet to get ready for a fight.

I'm watching the HW division where he is considered a major contender. If he wasn't then why is he 1) ranked in the top 5 in every sanctioning body's rankings and 2)fighting in a title eliminator to face the winner of Rahman v. Maskaev. And while I agree that he has no power, it doesn't seem to matter. Rahman couldn't beat him and I know you're not going to claim that he is not a contender. If he beats Peter will you still be living in denial? You don't have to like the way he trains/his attitude but give credit where credit is due
