He'll need to back that up in the ring tho. Against Morales he got a gift decision.

All good and well to have X million followers on where ...INSTAGRAM?!?!
        CAN.HE.FIGHT.
Anyone can look good against carefully selected part time fighters.
So far what i have seen has not impressed me. Time will tell.
He is looking more like another version of Vardejo. Nice hype but where is the substance.
I hope i am proved wrong.

I used to train where he started in victorville/hesperia youth center & know his old trainer. Im happy someone from where I live made it "big". I used to know plenty of golden gloves champs I sparred/fought with like Jerry reeves/micheal bailey, but they never went pro,& Ryan seems to have blown up overnight despite never seeming to have the same talent level. Just goes to show the power of going out & snatching your dreams on your own.

True story I was expelled from the 7th grade for making a 6'+ 8th grade giant cry & píss himself after I had a knife/gun at school that I pulled on him on the bus before it left the school for spring break weekend. That kid I made cry is now a pro mma fighter named carl culpepper & I nailed his sister afterwards because she didn't care.

The crazy thing was I showed the gun to everyone at school but didn't get caught. Then some idiot had to try to bully me on the bus, & then started crying" busdriver this kids tryin to shank me" the rest is history.

          here he is:https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter...carl-culpepper

The rush is that Ryan Garcia is a GBP fighter and needs to get KOd asap to apace the mobs.

People/haters are so quick to condemned/criticized and hate if certain celebrity doesn't fit their mold but they are quick to forget that RG already beat Davin Haney (a guy some of you are hyping up and with good valid reason) in the amateurs, he also beat Jason Velez who beat the Champion then Evengy Gradovich.

He's still saying that about Canelo lol

It will be interesting to see how Garcia's career plays out because I can't really think of any fighter like him in terms of his popularity. But it's not all gimmick because he was a elite blue chip amateur with 15 national championships and over 200 amateur wins. But even top amateurs aren't this popular this fast, even a lot of Olympian (Garcia was too young to qualify for the 2016 otherwise he would of easily qualified but rather then stick around until 2020 for next Olympics he turned pro at 17). Fought in Mexico for a few months until he turned 18 and could legally fight in the US then signed with Golden Boy as one of the most sought after fighters along with Olympians such as Shakur Stevenson.

But for most fighters as you work up the ranks you build popularity and most times you cross over if you lucky AFTER you become a world champ. That's the normal progression and it's not until you are a multi world champ or long time champ, P4P fighter that you become polarizing with tons of fans and haters. Well about a year after signing with Golden Boy Ryan reached that level. So now Golden Boy has to find a way to keep developing him but manage his celebrity. That's a tough thing to do. He's more famous then all the fighters from the 2016 Olympic class and most world champs. He's already got a acting job for a tv show centered around him, he's got endorsements, magazine spreads, and millions of fans on social media. But he's only 20 and you can't rush him in with world champs.

Most fighters don't get hated on like this but this is what happens when you popular like Garcia. Other prospects in the same age/stage of their career are fighting dudes with with double digit loses and fighters not even in the boxrec top 300 rankings. Dude has already fought Velez and Carlos Morales at age 19. Most prospects are NOT fighting guys like Velez and Morales.

The closest I can find to this much hate and resentment this early on is Oscar De La Hoya. But Oscar was Olympic Gold and his story about his mom stole the show for the 1992 Olympics so he was almost a national treasure turning pro and was moved ridiculously fast winning his first world title 1 year and a couple months after turning pro. By the time fans turned and started hating on Oscar he was already a world champ. Ryan got fans hating on him before he is even strapped up. Meanwhile you got pros almost 30 years old not fighting the level of opponents Ryan has already beaten and nobody complains.
