weakest decade in boxing history????????

this i can't even think of any fighter currently who TRULY deserves it either. and that's sad. even sadder is many people say floyd who has been retired since 2015 is the #1 for FOTD HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. too much jokes. lomachenko at least broke 2 boxing records but doesnt have that truly legendary resume yet. no one does.
hopefully next decade we will see fearless young fighters rise up. too many wimps this decade. too many hype jobs this decade.Comment

Imagine being one of those guys that nitpicks Floyd Mayweather's legendary boxing career while pretending Lomachenko was taking a huge risk by fighting Salido.Comment

CaneloYES. all hype and no substance. every decade produced a real legend or multiple legends. but this decade??? nothing. alot of skillful fighters with weak resumes and not many achievements to speak of. canelo??? all his best wins are questionable to say the least, failed multiple drug tests, etc... crawford??? undisputed in a weak 140 lb division, best win is a small past prime gamboa. spence???? best win is beating up a much much smaller and chubby mikey and didnt even KO him. JOKE. inoue???? still best win is KO'ing a much smaller past prime and much much older narvaez hahahahahaha.
and people are saying that floyd who has been retired since 2015 is the guaranteed FOTD??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH easily this is the weakest decade. who is stepping to the plate??? only lomachenko but he doesnt have that deep of a resume because he turned pro later in this decade.
AJ
Wilder
Fury
Spence
Pac-Man
Mayweather
Loma
Etc
That’s not bad?Comment

True. I think fans and media have a lot to do with it. If we're not demanding a fight and we continue to praise fighters for looking good in mismatches, the promoters will be happy to not give us the fights we want. Like you said, as long as fighters can make good money fighting John Doe instead of fighting other great fighters, they'll continue to do it. There needs to be pressure from fans but also the media because they're the ones that are in the fighters' and promoters' faces. There has to be some heat if not we'll continue to get the type of fights we've been getting.yup. a lot of fighters not taking chances to be certified ATG. taking fights where they are the big favorite. why take chances when u get millions fighting joe down the street. also a lot of hype. media praising fighters for doing very little. no one in the media demanding the best to step up and stop being big scaredy cats. guys with mediocre resumes but a lot of hype making it to people's top ten lists. hype. hype. hype. big joke.
a truly mediocre decade for boxing.Comment

Personally I think it's more to do with attitudes and expectations than the actual quality of the fighters. You could argue there's an increasing reluctance among fighters to take risky fights, but honestly that ****'s as old as the sport itself. The social media age has brought cynicism and scepticism to a whole new level and more than ever there's a desire to tear idols down... add to that the sports' eternally rose tinted rearview and it's hardly surprising people hold this view.
Thirty years from now I can virtually promise you that misty eyed boxing forum posters will be bemoaning the sad state of boxing in the 40s and talk about how great the noughties and teens were... it is what it is.Comment

There's lots of competition out there, the problem is todays top fighters dont want to fight each other. They're all trying to break bank and land that maypac type of paycheck.Comment
