Assuming the DAZN deal was legit, he should have taken the deal.

They are holding out on the potential that an AJ fight would eventually get made. They may never agree to terms without them on the same network. Or in the mean time, either fighter could be upset, either fighter could be seriously injured either in boxing or a non boxing injury. All while holding out on the idea that both fighters will stay undefeated and be able to make a deal in time that gets Donte more than $40 million. In the mean time both with fight cans.

An egg in the hand is worth two in the bush, Id take the $40m fight with the $40m rematch clause. Guaranteed $80m. It gives the fans what they want, it gives you the best fight for your legacy and it is a good financial decision IMO too.

Free tv explosion, funny. And it was so successful NBC refused to renew, Spike cancelled PBC and Haymon lost almost $400 million. Loma 3 division champ, fighting the best fighters in his respective division at the time. Loma's resume Russell, Walters, Rigo, Linares.

Crawford 3 division world champ, 140lb unified champion. he had a pay per view fight before any Haymon fighter. beaten Burns, Gamboa, Postal, Benavidez, Indongo, Horn.

Spence best fight was against a former featherweight. Thurman and Porter are the only fighters who have fought consistent good opposition. Even so Thurman almost retired and only fought once in almost 2 years. Look at the $ Joshua makes compared to Wilder. Wilder is no star and he is almost 34yrs old. Spence is almost 30 and he has only won one world title and has to beat up former featherweights instead of fighting welterweights or super welterweights.

BTW I am no promoter sycophant, I could care less about promoters. This new promoter sycophant thing that has been going on is a new thing. I am just citing the facts and what Haymon has done with his stable for almost 10 years, and none of them are Mayweather type stars. They are not even 20% of what Mayweather became.

Considering only 45% of total US PPV revenue goes to both(!) fighters, DAZN offer was idiotically good.
Just for Brazil fight, they offered 26M to both fighters (DW-20; DB-6). That's the equivalent of ca. 720K (realistic, not blown up) PPV buys.
For AJ fight +80M (if 50/50): That's the equivalent of 2.2M PPV buys.

If uncle Al didn't make Deonkey the new Floyd in 42 fights, he never will. You just have to love PBC fighters' naivete. Laughable.

Experience plays a factor for sure. Top rank has the best matchmaking by far. With that being said, what they're currently doing with Errol is amazing. The guy has been everywhere the past week due to the Fox machine behind him so I would like to see how Crawford's fight with Khan resonates with the public before saying he's in better position than Errol.

Of course Arum would say that. He now has Fury on his books, so keeping Wilder away from DAZN's $100m plus offer is in Bob's best interests; otherwise he can kiss goodbye to staging the rematch himself anytime in the next couple of years at least.
Wilder could have turned down ownership of Amazon.com, and old Bob would have said it was a smart business move (inwardly adding "for me").

Politics aside you can't answer to all the reasons why Wilder should take this deal without going into politics

What is funny is people thinking the DAZN model is sustainable. Those prices will will keep going up and they would become the new pay per view.

Arum and Espinoza know that they will have to make fights to cool off DAZN! "The enemy of my enemy, is my friend!"
