  • Comments Thread For: Maurice Hooker Extends Pact With Hearn, Roc Nation

Maurice Hooker has signed an extension to his co-promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing USA and Roc Nation. Hooker defended his WBO World Super-Lightweight title with a commanding points win over Mikkel LesPierre at Turning Stone Resort Casino live on DAZN earlier in the month, and the Dallas native now hopes to fight at home for the first time as a World champion following his win over the Brooklynite.

I thought so too! Lol. Didn’t all their fighters leave? I remember seeing a couple of cards they promoted, wars against an English fighter who got touched up....but they never seemed to go anywhere. Shame, considering the pool of money they could have had behind them with jayz and Beyoncé

Hearn likes to keep all his matchroom USA champs active by fighting bums. Hooker, Andrade, Farmer have yet to fight anyone of note on DAZN. Hooker only meaningful actually happened of DAZN with Arum.

Roc Nation still has about a dozen fighters or so, I think, but without the TV muscle, they've largely had their guys on loan to regional shows as they build.

When Ward hung them up, Dusty Harrison Hernandez was basically the next TV ready fighter, but he turned out to be a screw up. Eventually, he went on his own way.

Maurice Hooker is now Roc Nation's most marketable fighter, but he's still Maurice Hooker.

With the bag that Arum put up, in hoping that his guy picked off the WBO belt, Hooker/RocNation missed out on Hooker's shot; enter the WBSS with the WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO belts at stake, win the whole thing, and Hooker emerges as an asset for however long he can still make 140lbs.

DAZN is putting up money, Hooker isn't really loaded with options right now, so RocNation keeping DAZN/Hearn in the fold works out. Congrats to him and his family
