There's another thread from a few days ago that addresses this in detail but the crux is that:

    - The criteria are bollix. It doesn't work for sportsmen who only compete twice a year.
    - It's not even slightly accurate. As demonstrated by anyone with a grasp of Google trends.

Can't believe Espinosa had the nerve to quote such obvious bollix. Embarrassing.

The most important factor when it really comes down to it is how much someone can command in sponsorships. Once again a better indicator of how popular someone is than how many times they were searched.
      This right here.

Jubei also brought up the more accurate numbers as for as google trends go, and the part for social following on that list is questionable too...for example, it says Tyson Fury has 21.5 million followers on his most popular account. Fury only has 1.6 million followers on Instagram and 1.09 million followers on Twitter...

Those numbers always seemed wildly skewed to me but what is his Facebook following?

Dude nobody is gonna watch that AJ fight. Nobody watches DAZN and nobody cares about Jarrell Miller. The fans here know Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder because they got big time exposure and build up for their first fight. AJ ain't getting that here because he doesn't deserve it. He's shamelessly cherry picking and avoiding the big dogs. DAZN trying to get Wilder to sign a contract with DAZN was a pathetic attempt to make Wilder commit to the B side pay day. AJ isn't fighting Wilder Fury or Ortiz so he's a non factor as far as I'm concerned. He's the Lucian Bute of the heavyweight division. An undefeated guy that beats contenders but never challenges himself against the prime champs. And like Bute, when he finally does step up he will get his big tea sipping ass blasted out of there. Is that clear!!!!!!!!??????
