yeah he held back, Mikey's extra weight made him a sloth, Spence could've gone for the kill anytime after the 7th round but was still cautious. The only time he let it go was the end of the 12th, even Spence's coach wanted him to put the harmless Mikey away!
i have seen the Spence vs Mikey fight yet. did spence hold back?

maybe the last few seconds of the last round spence just toyed with him. but spence's power is proven overrated.Comment

According to compubox (take it as u will) the man threw over 1,080 punches in the fight. How the **** is that holding back, what was he supposed to do? Throw 1,300? 1,400?Comment

He held back on full power stoppage, yes he did. He didn't hold back on skill.
I counted three blatant haymakers that would have taken Mikey's head off had they landed. Outside of that, I saw little effort to do more than just outbox the guy except Round 12.Comment

Exactly.... He went for it a couple times. He boxed beautifully and had the right gameplan. He wont get a KO in every fight. He tried he failed but won every round so... He hurt Mikey to the bdy a few times too. Not bad at all.Seemed to me that Spence was cautious in the early rounds. He was imposing his will and didn’t see the need to take chances. When he felt Mikey soften up he stepped up the aggression. You could see the ebb and flow of Spence’s effort. He pressed for the KO a couple of times; but when Garcia resisted, Errol was content to inflict punishment.Comment

Spence boxed the vast majority of the bout, but from the 9th round on he was trying to get Mikey out of there. Mikey did a great jub surviving even though he knew he wasn't winning.Comment

I agree with this for the most part, but I would say "resisted" doesn't accurately reflect what Garcia was doing. He had given up all pretenses of trying to win after the 5th round. His resistance was just him trying to survive to the last round.Seemed to me that Spence was cautious in the early rounds. He was imposing his will and didn’t see the need to take chances. Spence seemed content enough with how easily he was winning the fight, and didn't really seem to care if he closed out the show or not.
Hey kept putting in the work to keep putting away the rounds, but I didn't ever really see a point where he was really trying to setup the end. It was more of an where if the end came it was going to come from the accumulation, and not a concerted effort to end the fight emphatically.
Thats just how it looked to me though.Comment

Yeah, I’d say so. Garcia maybe even hoped he could land a game-changer. It happens.I agree with this for the most part, but I would say "resisted" doesn't accurately reflect what Garcia was doing. In the end, I was satisfied with the way Spence handled himself. I know some guys think he should’ve taken more risks and closed the show, but that’s easy to say when you’re not the guy taking the risks. Lol Does the fact Errol didn’t finish the smaller man mean anything? Not in this case, in my opinion. Mikey has a lot of heart and a solid chin; and Spence barely went into overdrive.Comment

I have no problem with how spence handled himself. Ive never really pegged him as someone that wants the kill. He is just there to do his work, and his work usually means you are getting broken down and stopped.Yeah, I’d say so. Garcia maybe even hoped he could land a game-changer. It happens.

I feel like he wanted to box a bit more on the night, and show that it wasn't just his size that was allowing him to win, but his skills. It seems like he took the "basic" comment to heartComment
