I thought that the way Errol fought Mikey showed how much respect he had for him. He kept it technical and must have thought better of it than to try and make it a short slugfest. I would like to see Mikey fight Loma next at 140 and see how that goes.

It would certainly be a much more entertaining fight. Almost a toss up in my opinion but I'd take Spence by KO in a later round.

Fuc.k outta here. I've stuck to the same script since day it was announced. Weak undercard made this mismatch even more ugly.

If you look at the way Duran went at Leonard in their first fight (giving up 3 inches to Leonard and also coming up in weight like Garcia did), then compare to what Mikey did vs Spence, there was a world of difference. Noone ever equated Garcia to Duran, but Duran showed why he was a P4P fighter in that fight - no way he was going to coast to a loss, if he was going to lose it would have been on his shield or to a better performance from Leonard (second fight different as Duran got way out of shape in the 5 months between the two fights and was in no condition for it second time out).

I think if Garcia won a few rounds and made it hard for Spence, and then went out on his shield late fight while showing that he was trying whatever he could to win, then that would be one thing, but to basically just stand there and be outclassed over 12 while celebrating the end of each round with a fist pump that basically said 'survived another one' - then that's another thing.

For sure - a lot of people expected more from Garcia, even if they expected him to lose.
            Well said!!

Where was Garcia's timing, ring IQ, intelligence, and speed he talked about? Garcia looked like a slow flabby gate keeper.
So do you give him credit or not?

Spence was given the same circumstances and couldn't get his guy out of there. Should this performance be considered impressive or actually more of a letdown?

Rigondeaux came to "fight," he tried to be aggressive, to be deliberate, to "get in" with specific hard shots - the thing is, it did not affect the naturally bigger Loma. Rig tried to set his shots up throughout the entire fight and TRADED. Of course he held on when he felt the heat, but thats allowable. He realized the bigger man was way too much.

Garcia, on the other hand, came to survive. Its next to impossible to KO a solid physically fit opponent when he's decided to use all that good fitness he's worked for - for survival mode. Garcia "decided" to lose every round instead of risking a PPV bedtime nap. He had a very few minor spurts when he'd gotten Spence to cover up, but Garcia didn't offensively attack (barely) enough to give Spence any indication of what he was trying to do. How was Spence to figure out any type of gameplan Garcia might have had - to counter?!

Garcia ended up training to run. I'm of the opinion he decided to run only after absorbing some of Spences shots in the first two rounds. But who knows, he probably planned to get a paycheck by calling Spence out from the jump. Roberto Duran brought the FIGHT to Ray Leonard BIG TIME! Garcia did no such thing with Spence. The event was an obvious let down, can't even say "he tried." ...He tried at track & field.

How can anyone give Spence the p4p spot based on dominating Mikey when everyone including fighters, press, and the public knew Garcia was too small and did not stand a chance in beating Spence. When Everyone knew Spence was going to win. I'm sorry Spence can't be given the top spot based on a fight everyone knew he was going to win before it even happened. Based on a fight everyone thought was a crazy fight to be happening because Garcia, who started his career at featherweight, was just too small.

Hell, Loma vs Rigo was much more of a toss up by everyone's thoughts before it happened because the size ratio was much smaller as compared to Spence and Garcia's size difference.

He took what he could get to the body early until he was able to gain a stronghold late in the fight. Spence is a complete fighter and showed an excellent defense against an accurate hard punching technician. It was a highly impressive performance by Errol!
